Anne Leanos graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy when only twelve percent of students were women, and served in high-visibility positions within the Navy’s Public Affairs specialty. An outstanding communicator, from crisis response to community outreach, she served as principal media liaison on a diplomatic team that worked with foreign countries and was selected by the Navy to perform as Master of Ceremonies at Hero Street USA’s Memorial Day commemoration honoring Mexican-American Veterans.
A master at personal branding, who has coached others to do the same, Anne has leveraged the confidence and grit she’s developed through overcoming obstacles facing women in the military for achievement throughout her career. She holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and is experienced in marketing, sales, retail management and developing leaders. Anne has worked both as an entrepreneur and as a leader in corporate America.
Soon after leaving the Navy, Anne found success running her own Mary Kay business, and her ability to build high performing teams earned her multiple Pink Cadillacs and company awards. Recognizing unique accomplishment in the speed of her business growth, Mary Kay handpicked her to speak and train at National Conventions.
Anne’s unique combination of military, sales and business development experience lent to success as a Macy’s Inc. Vice President, where she turned a store from last in its district to number three company-wide. Anne has blended her military experience with a love of education, personal growth and business savvy to innovate in her new role as the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Eureka College. Anne maintains her ties to the Navy, where she serves as a Commander in the Reserves, using her public relations expertise to engage with corporate, media, civic, and education leaders to elevate public awareness of the Navy.
