Go from Boring to Bravo with High Stakes Meeting Facilitator, Main Stage Conversationalist & Panel Moderator!
- Panel Moderator
- Master of Ceremonies
- Critical Thinking
Kristin J. Arnold creates collaborative conversations at the intersection of a presentation and facilitation. Her unique background and personality have enabled her to break the safe, traditional “professional speaker” mold, preferring instead to work as a “mainstage conversationalist”, engaging and involving the audience in shaping the content. Regardless of the size of group, large or small, Kristin will enable your audience to think differently by invoking relevant, timely insights applicable to real world issues.
As a high stakes meeting facilitator, professional panel moderator and keynote speaker, Kristin has worked with thousands of senior executives, project managers and team leaders in North America. With over two decades of experience facilitating and training teams in the work place, she has worked with over a hundred different organizations, three hundred different teams, and presented to over a half a million people around the world.
As one of the first female graduates of the United States Coast Guard Academy and the first woman stationed onboard a sea-going buoy tender, Kristin learned early on about working with others. In 1990, she became one of the first USCG facilitators – and made every mistake one could! Frustrated, she avidly researched this nascent skill called “facilitation” and found herself training a cadre of internal facilitators. By 1992, companies were asking her to teach their people how to facilitate and lead teams! Since then, she has been sharing her concrete approach to teambuilding with a treasure trove of practical concepts, tools and techniques her clients can apply immediately to see positive, substantive results.
Kristin’s passion for teams is reflected in her writing, speaking, facilitation and consulting. She is an award-winning author of Boring to Bravo: Proven Presentation Techniques to Engage, Involve, and Inspire Your Audiences to Action and several books in the Extraordinary Team Series (Team Basics, Email Basics and Team Energizers). Her latest book, Powerful Panels, was written to raise the level of performance of panels at meetings, conferences and conventions.
Featured in numerous publications such as Harvard Business Update, USA Today, Selling Power, Kristin knows what it takes to lead, facilitate and participate on high performing teams. She was President of the National Speakers Association of the United States (2010-2011) and served as a National Director from 2005 to 2012. She also served as President of the Downtown Hampton (Virginia) Development Partnership (2001-2), a nonprofit business organization attributed to turning Downtown Hampton from a quaint, sleepy town to a thriving entertainment, retail and residential center. She retired from the USCG Reserves in 2002 as a Lieutenant Commander.
Kristin is on the Executive Development Faculty in the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, specializing in Leadership Through Teambuilding.
She has achieved two of the highest designations available within each of her core competencies:
- Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) from the National Speakers Association (2002)
- Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) from the International Association of Facilitators (2002)
She is also certified to administer several assessment tools that assist people in determining their thinking styles, personality preferences and management effectiveness (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, Kolbe™, Human Synergistics’ Group Styles Inventory™ and Organizational Culture® Inventory).

In this presentation, Kristin will share five “traps” that generate poor or faulty reasoning – and what you can do to prevent those traps. She will also share five practical techniques that will allow you and your team to
- Address the “right” issue or problem
- Access and assess valuable information

- Act on the solution to achieve the desired results.
FIVE SECRETS TO LEADING AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING
- Are you frustrated that your meetings are not as productive as they could be?
- Are you worried that assignments are going to fall through the cracks?
- Do you wish everyone behaved better at your meetings?
Effective teamwork revolves around the opportunity for everyone to meet – either face-to-face (F2F) or virtually through videoconferencing, web conferencing or teleconferencing.
Teams should only need to meet once – to discuss the pertinent points, make solid agreements on how to move forward, and determine who is going to do what and by when.
60% of all meetings in the US workplace are considered to be non-productive. In this session, you will learn five key strategies for your meetings to become remarkably more productive. Your team will be able to achieve real results without the frustration, stress, and copious amounts of time. Everyone will be saying your meetings are excellent! Well Done! Bravissimo!
Before the session, Kristin will talk with the conference sponsor(s) to determine the “pain” in a typical meeting. She’ll interview a sample of participants to discover their thoughts and opinions – so that she can pull the absolute BEST five strategies to share in this session.
Kristin’s session goes beyond a traditional “stand and deliver” keynote. In an engaging and interactive way, she will share five practical strategies that will make a HUGE difference in the way meetings are held in the workplace.
CREATING COLLABORATIVE CONNECTIONS: THE BIRDS!
In this rapidly changing, hi-tech world, we must be even more vigilant about maintaining responsive communications with all the “diverse” people who are important to our success. This highly interactive session will help you develop the skills to increase the effectiveness of your communications with a wider range of individuals while reducing conflict and misunderstandings.
To maximize your potential and communicate more efficiently with employees, management, team members, clients and in personal relationships, you must employ a communication style that will be most effective for them to better process your information and messages.
Through interaction and role-play, you will identify the genetic markers, which provide clues to a person’s communication preferences. You will then develop strategies to adapt and strengthen your communication style in areas where you may be personally challenged. Additionally, you will develop a better understanding of the normal or usual reactions that others exhibit in different situations, which will enable you to use alternate responses and tactics.
