Sara is an inclusion visionary and non-profit entrepreneur who started her life of service with a career in the Navy as a Salvage and Diving Officer and Explosive Ordnance Officer. She transitioned to the Naval Reserves after numerous deployments and as a Reserve Officer, has commanded of two units, served in the Joint Staff, mobilized to Afghanistan in support of Counter Improvised Explosive Device missions, and was selected to hold the office of Interim Dean of Administration for the College of International Security Affairs at the National Defense University. She currently sits as a member of the Navy Reserve Policy Board.
In addition to her military service, Sara cofounded Crossroads Adaptive Athletic Alliance in 2014, the only nonprofit of its kind – building a stronger community for adaptive athletes and their coaches, helping athletes with permanent needs participate in life-changing fitness opportunities through education, grants, and competition. Through Crossroads, Sara develops and teaches seminars and workshops for fitness and medical professionals, speaks on national platforms about the impact of inclusion in sport and continues to hone her own coaching skills.
Sara is an emerging professional speaker with a distinctive perspective and expertise. She has the unique ability to use the understanding of the stress of combat, business start-up challenges and work-life balance, to develop the adaptive mindset necessary to promote growth, professionally and personally. Sara uses her wide-ranging experience in military, private, and public sector to motivate audiences to adapt to their situations to increase success, resilience, confidence, and capability.
Sara’s clients include universities and community colleges, veterans and military groups, health and fitness events and conferences, including special needs and adapted sporting events. Sara offers customizable keynotes, seminars & workshops and one-on-one coaching.
Sara holds a Master of Science in Leadership from Northeastern University, a Master of Public Health from University of Maryland and continues to learn and serve as a Behavioral and Community Health PhD student.
